Long DescriptionWhy do some democratic governments succeed and others fail? In a book that has received attention from policymakers and civic activists in America and around the world, Robert Putnam and his collaborators offer empirical evidence for the importance of "civic community" in developing successful institutions. Their focus is on a unique experiment begun in 1970 when Italy created new governments for each of its regions. After spending two decades analyzing the efficacy of these governments in such fields as agriculture, housing, and health services, they reveal patterns of associationism, trust, and cooperation that facilitate good governance and economic prosperity.

Over the past few months, we have been making some very big changes to the site. You have already seen some of the cosmetic changes but the bulk of the changes have been behind the scenes.

The biggest changes have all happened on the database side of things. We have changed the way we collect, review and display the information for each product.

Although most people won't care about the changes that happen in the background, some of those changes also come with updates to the user interface beyond simple cosmetics.

We hope to have the new version out to the public in the next few weeks and by the end of this year for sure. But we would like to offer a few users the opportunity to try out the new site in the testing environment.

Basically, we would like a few people to just play around in the test area and if something isn't working as expected, just let us know.

If this is something you might be interested in, please contact us. We will set up a user account for you and then you can test.

Just keep in mind, as people are testing, we will continue to make improvements so the test site may change a little from day to day.
