Features101 Exceptional Projects to Make Out of Everyday Paper, Reimagine the most basic of materials into beautiful items, Turn shopping bags and candy wrappers into jewelry or gifts, Simple instructions with full color photographs, By Anthropologie merchandise manager Kayte Terry
Long DescriptionAnnouncing the biggest, best, most innovative book ever on paper craft. Even better, this is not about how to use costly, artsy paper, but how to turn stuff around the house—magazines and shopping bags, candy wrappers and paint sample cards, wrapping paper, old maps, and paper towel tubes—into stunning jewelry, gifts, home decor, party favors, and much more. Chances are you’ve seen the author’s cutting-edge work in the windows of Anthropologie, where she is the chain’s merchandising manager. An inveterate crafter who creates projects and styles photo shoots for magazines like Parents and Vogue Knitting , Kayte Terry takes the most versatile of materials and the most basic of crafts (remember snipping valentines out of construction paper?), and creates something completely trans- formative. Turn a sheaf of any white or graph paper into an amazing Scrap Happy Globe Lantern for the dining room. Fashion colored tissue paper into Songbird Votives, leftover raffle tickets into a Prizewinning Bowl, that out-dated pile of holiday catalogs into a picture frame. There’s a necklace made of playing cards, a gum wrapper bracelet, and barrettes made by quilling—a paper technique that goes back to the Renaissance. Every project is photographed in full color, and includes step-by-step illustrations and instructions. Truly a book that shows how to think outside the (cardboard) box.

This is a basic implementation of a service that provides retrieval access to the EANData.com UPC web site. Its was coded to verify basic  proof-of-concept for development of another application and was not intended to provide be anything more than basic functionality in the retrieval  of UPC data from the EANData.com web site.

There are several places where simple code was left in place rather than using more advanced Java features/methods to allow for easier  understanding of junior developers. Not much time spent refactoring or cleaning up the code. It is provided as a starting point only.

It contains a Factory service that returns a service object configured using the UcpService.properties (see below) file found in the class path of  the executed code. The UpcQueryService can respond with an implementation of the UpcResponse and supporting interfaces or with an InputStream  allowing direct access to the response from the from the EANData.com web site.

JSR 353 is the Java API for JSON is currently under development (http://java.net/projects/json-processing-spec & http://java.net/projects/jsonp).  The several Java JSON implementations seemed to be more than I was wanting/needing so I wrote a basic parser to provide JSON parsing capability  needed. Its not perfect but is a good basic start.

The UpcService.properties must be configured.

ApiKeyCode (Required)
Provided from EANData.com when your account is setup.

Mode (Required)
The manner in which the data will be retrieved from the EANData.com web site.
