| Long Description | From the pages of the Old Testament comes the inspirational story of David (Ivo Payer), an idealistic young man destined to one day rule Israel. Before this can happen, David must help to fulfill a prophesy told to him by King Saul (Orson Wells), whose rule is threatened by an army of angry Philistines. In order to vanquish his enemies, Saul tells young David that he must go forth to confront Goliath (Kronos), a mighty giant and strongest of all of the Philistines. What follows is a legendary battle for the ages. This film of Italian origin is noteworthy for a number of reasons, chief among them a colorful performance by Orson Wells (Citizen Kane), an intense portrayal by Ivo Payer as David and the screen debut of Kronosi, an imposing gargantuan reputed to have been recruited from the circus to play the role of Goliath. |
